Anticipations at Every Level From Research to Embryo Transfer One of the most often used and successful fertility treatments available worldwide and in India is IVF, in vitro fertilisation. Many couples start this road with anxiety, but knowing the stages involved can help to lower uncertainty. The first step is the first consultation, in which we thoroughly record both partners' histories. We might counsel semen analysis, ultrasonic scans, and blood tests. Common causes of infertility in India include PCOS, endometriosis, tubal blockages, and male factor problems many of which can be treated with IVF. The female partner then undergoes ovarian stimulation, in which she gets hormone injections for roughly ten to twelve days to help generate several mature eggs. We closely track follicle development over this period using blood tests and ultrasonic waves. We set the egg retrieval—ovum pick-up—when the eggs are ready. This is a quick daycare operation carried out under anesthesia. That same day, we either gather frozen donor sperm if necessary or a semen sample from the male partner. Either conventional IVF or ICSI (Intracytoplasmic Sperm Injection), which is typically used in male factor infertility, the eggs are then fertilised with sperm in the lab. The best quality embryo is chosen for embryo transfer once the embryos have been evaluated following 3–5 days. Most Indian IVF clinics nowadays advise single embryo transfer to lower the twin risk. The procedure is simple, doesn’t require anesthesia, and you can go home within a few hours.

Two weeks after the transfer, we conduct a blood test (beta hCG) to check for pregnancy.
