  • High success rates even in complex cases

Introduction

Intrauterine Insemination (IUI) is a straightforward and less invasive fertility treatment. It significantly increases the chances of conception in certain cases. The process involves placing washed and concentrated sperm directly into the uterus around the time of ovulation. This method brings the sperm closer to the egg, which improves the chances of fertilization.

At Dr. Noopur’s clinic, we provide well-timed and medically guided IUI cycles using effective protocols and monitoring techniques.

The Process

The IUI process starts with a consultation to review your fertility history and perform basic tests, such as hormone tests, ultrasound scans, and a semen analysis.

If IUI is appropriate, we begin the cycle with either natural ovulation monitoring or mild fertility medications to stimulate egg development. We monitor ovulation with ultrasound scans and sometimes blood tests.

Once ovulation is approaching, the male partner provides a semen sample. We process this sample in the lab to separate the healthiest and most active sperm. We then gently place this sample into the uterus using a thin, flexible catheter. This quick, painless procedure takes just a few minutes.

Our goal is to time the insemination perfectly with ovulation, giving the sperm the best chance to meet the egg. A pregnancy test is scheduled about two weeks after the procedure.

IUI can be repeated for several cycles based on results and age before considering other options.

FAQs

How many cycles of IUI should I try? +
Typically, we recommend 3 to 4 cycles. If there is no success, we may consider IVF for better results.
Is IUI painful? +
No, the procedure is very simple and feels similar to a routine pelvic exam.
What are the success rates? +
Success rates range from 10 to 20 percent per cycle, depending on age and fertility factors. Success improves with multiple cycles.
Is there a chance of twins? +
If we use ovulation induction drugs, there is a slightly higher chance of twins. However, we monitor the process closely to minimize this risk.
