Introduction

Laparoscopy and hysteroscopy are modern, minimally invasive techniques for diagnosing and treating various fertility and gynecological problems. These methods allow doctors to examine the uterus, fallopian tubes, ovaries, and pelvic cavity without major surgery. At Vasundhara IVF, Dr. Noopur Bajpai, an experienced laparoscopic surgeon, uses these tools to provide accurate diagnoses, quicker recovery, and effective treatment plans for women dealing with infertility or gynecological issues.

The Process

Laparoscopy involves inserting a thin, lighted telescope-like instrument through a small incision in the abdomen to view the reproductive organs. It helps diagnose and treat conditions like endometriosis, fibroids, ovarian cysts, adhesions, and blocked fallopian tubes. Laparoscopic surgery is done under general anesthesia and is usually a day-care procedure, which means most patients can go home the same day.

Hysteroscopy, on the other hand, allows doctors to examine the inside of the uterus. A thin hysteroscope is inserted through the vagina and cervix without any cuts or stitches. This procedure helps detect and treat issues like uterine polyps, fibroids, adhesions, and abnormal bleeding. Diagnostic hysteroscopy can often be done without anesthesia, while surgery may require mild sedation or anesthesia.

Both procedures are effective in improving fertility outcomes by addressing underlying issues that may affect conception or pregnancy.

Is It Right for Me?

If you have been trying to conceive without success, have irregular or heavy bleeding, experience recurrent miscarriages, or need further investigation after ultrasound or HSG, these procedures may be recommended. Dr. Noopur will guide you based on your symptoms, test results, and medical history and will explain the procedure and recovery in detail.
